WORKSHOPS
Students often change their majors as they are exposed to new fields of study in college or when they realize their understanding of a subject differed from what its study entails. We strive to equip students with thorough knowledge of different fields in accounting, and this is achieved through our workshops. In partnership with the Career Center we provide resources for students to build their professional image. Whether it is through resume critique or interview practice, or having professional guest speakers we want you to be prepared to enter the job market in accounting.
WORKSHOPS
SPRING BANQUET
SPRING BANQUET
This event is our culmination of an entire year's work. We invite professionals from organizations that would like to get to know you on a professional and personal basis. We will convene with Accounting Society members, alumni, professionals, and faculty while enjoying each other's company and conversation. Great relationships and future contacts are built at this and other events that we host. We'll also present recognition to members, such as scholarships, award certificates, and firm memorabelia.
MEET THE FIRMS
MEET THE FIRMS
This event is co-sponsored by the Accounting Society and the Career Center to bring out accounting firms to campus. In one night, you will meet real professionals from each firm, learn about their company culture, discover the specific work they do, and make a professional connection. This event has proven to be a useful tool for students searching for internships and/or full-time positions.
Accounting firms mainly recruit during the fall quarter before busy season and recruiters use Meet the Firms to learn about the potential candidates before the interview. Getting an edge on the competition is one of the main things the recruiting game is all about and going to an event such as Meet the Firms is another opportunity to set you apart from the rest.
BE A LEADER
BE A LEADER
Each semester the Accounting Society elects leaders to further continue the club in the following semester. This is a great opportunity for members who want to develop their leadership skills by taking part in operating, developing, and growing the club. Some of the positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Mentorship & Internship Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, and Social Media Coordinator.
Becoming a leader will prepare you to collaborate with your peers, learning how to work together to reach a common goal. You will be able to connect with professionals to help plan meetings and open opportunities for the club. Leadership roles in the Accounting Society are a reflection of California State University Dominguez Hills and will get to collaborate with other various leaders to accomplish different initiatives on campus.
